George William Craft served during the Second World War as a Flight Engineer with 7 Squadron, flying Stirlings, and was killed when Stirling N3727, piloted by Flight Lieutenant B. M. Denny, was lost without trace whilst on a minelaying sortie over Heligoland on 27-28 April 1942.

Craft is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. His medals were sent to his mother, Amy Craft, who had subsequently re-married Mr. John Daniel.
