The Army L.S. & G.C. awarded to Colour-Sergeant Thomas Hopkins, Coldstream Guards, later a Yeoman of the Guard

Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 1st issue, large letter reverse, edge dated (T. Hopkins, Colour Serjt. Coldstream Guards. 1839.) impressed naming, fitted with replacement clip and bar suspension, traces of brooch marks to reverse, chemically cleaned, otherwise very fine £100-£140

Sold with original Certificate of Appointment as Yeoman in Ordinary of Her Majesty’s Body Guard, dated 19 November 1839; his Chelsea Hospital Out-Pensioners Certificate, dated 11 December 1839; and a hand-written copy of the Standing Orders of Her Majesty’s Royal Body Guard, dated 1 July 1852.

Thomas Hopkins was born in the Parish of Coychurch, Bridgend, Glamorgan, and enlisted into the Coldstream Guards at Bristol on 28 December 1816, aged 24, and served for 23 years. He was promoted to Corporal in November 1819, to Sergeant in January 1825, and was discharged on 11 December 1839, having been appointed to Her Majesty’s Body Guard on 19 November 1839. He died on 22 November 1855.
