Frederick Louis Tillett was born in Norwich in 1880. He served with the Rifle Brigade in South Africa, and was wounded in action at Vaal Krantz, 5-7 February 1900, and subsequently saw active service with the Highland Light Infantry during the Great War. In later life he was employed as a postman in Norwich, and was awarded his Imperial Service Medal on retirement in 1936 (London Gazette 18 September 1936).
