George Hazell Searle, a native of Croydon in Surrey, enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps from the Army in October 1916, aged 28 years, the relevant papers revealing that he was a photographer by profession. He subsequently served out in Canada in the Recruiting Department, April 1917 to January 1919, gaining advancement to Corporal in October 1918 - and entitlement to a single British War Medal 1914-20. With copied service papers and research.
