Provenance: DNW, September 2004.

Raja-i-Rajgan Raja Randhir Singh, ruler of Kapurthala, placed all his resources at the disposal of the Government during the Indian Mutiny of 1857, and did much valuable service in suppressing the uprising near his home state. In 1858 he proceeded at the head of his troops into Oudh, where they participated in six engagements and captured several guns, returning to Kapurthala in March 1859.
