Arthur Herbert Dancer was a native of Sutton Coldfield. He served during the Great War as Sergeant Major with the Royal Army Medical Corps in the French theatre of war from 24 March 1915. He was awarded the M.S.M. for work whilst with the 56th Casualty Clearing Station in France. Commissioned Lieutenant and Quarter Master, 31 August 1927, Dancer served with the 143rd South Midland Field Ambulance, R.A.M.C. (T.A.). He advanced to Captain and Quarter Master, 31 August 1935.
