M.C. London Gazette 26 July 1918:

‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He observed that the enemy had worked round the left flank of his regiment so he organised a party and went out under heavy shell fire to protect the flank, thus enabling the regiment to withdraw. By his courage and initiative he rendered material assistance at a critical time.’

Albert Fisher Davidge was born in Shadwell, London, in July 1885. He attested for the 12th Lancers at Stratford, in November 1905. He served during the Great War in the ranks of the Regiment, in the French theatre of war from 15 August 1914 (entitled to 1914 Star). He advanced to Sergeant, 10 April 1915, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant, 12th Lancers, 11 September 1916. He advanced to Lieutenant 11 March 1918, served as Captain and Adjutant, Cavalry Depot, Woolwich, 1919-21. He transferred to the Army Reserve of Officers, 13 August 1921, and after the war he was joint licensee of the Franklyns Gardens Hotel, Northampton. He died in an accident in 1931.
