Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Busaco (John Chetham, Capt. 61st Foot) edge bruised and rubbed, polished overall, otherwise nearly very fine £1400-1600

John Chetham was appointed a Captain in the 61st Foot on 31 October 1799 and was subsequently placed on half-pay. He was recalled from half-pay on 9 July 1803, and promoted to Major on 13 June 1811. He served in the Peninsula with the 61st from September 1809 to October 1811, and was present at the battle of Busaco. He was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in the 61st on 19 May 1814, vice Lieutenant-Colonel Coghlan, killed in action at Toulouse.
