James Moore was born at Killaghart, county Leitrim, and enlisted in September 1814. He was wounded by a gunshot in the left arm, received in action with the enemy at Waterloo on the 18 June 1815, and was discharged in February 1816. Out of 698 men, this regiment lost 480 at Waterloo, having been almost blown to pieces when standing in square above the sandpit on the Charleroie road.
