The Indian Mutiny medal formed part of the Nunn family medals sold at Christie’s, 13 March 1989. The Crimea medal has been added subsequently to complete his entitlement.

William David Nunn joined the regiment as an Ensign on 20 February 1855, and was promoted Lieutenant on 21 September 1855, and Captain on 29 July 1859. He served with the regiment in the Crimea at the Siege of Sebastopol and in the expedition to Kinburn. In the Indian Mutiny he was present at the battles of Chandra, Ameerapore, Sultanapore, siege and capture of Lucknow, and the actions at Mohan, as Orderly Officer to Brigadier Eveleagh, Hussengunge, Meangunge, Churda, Fort Musjeidia, and Bankee. Captain Nunn was promoted Brevet Major on 5 July 1872, exchanged to the 2nd Battalion in November 1872, and retired by sale of his commission in July 1875. He died at Cheltenham on 10 May 1909.
