Peter Baird joined the Depot of the 79th Foot on 9 August 1867, aged 18 years. He was one of a detachment of 2 officers and 135 men of the 79th Highlanders who were attached to the 42nd Highlanders, from December 1873 to May 1874, for service during the Ashantee campaign of 1873-74. Sold with copied muster rolls.
