Joseph Spedding was born in York and attested in Australia at Melbourne on 7 September 1863, aged 23. He served with the Imperial Commissariat Transport Corps, No. 7 Company 3rd Waikato Regiment and 4th Division Armed Constabulary. Sold with copied application form for New Zealand medal which notes ‘My name is in the Genl. Govnt. Gazette 31st May 1871, No 5 Page 153. But surname by mistake Spreddon’.
