Herbert William Berry was born in Coate, Wiltshire and lived and enlisted at Devizes, Wiltshire. Serving with the Wiltshire Regiment he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 17 February 1915. Serving with the 1st Battalion he was killed in action in France on 21 March 1918.

The medals and plaque together with a Wiltshire Regiment cap badge fitted in a modern wooden glass-fronted case, 41 x 36cm.; together with another, older case, 47 x 24cm. holding ribbons and commemorative scroll.
