Only one officer appears to have served in the Soudan campaign of 1896-98, Captain Hon. E. Baring, who received clasps for Sudan 1897, The Atbara, Khartoum and Gedaref. Crisp may have been a servant to this officer but this has not been confirmed, neither has his entitlement to this medal.
