M.B.E. London Gazette 29 April 1952.

Recommendation states: ‘This warrant officer is responsible for all technical accounting, which is one of the most important duties in an armoured regiment. He has to account for about £4 millions worth of equipment. Since the formation of the “Heavy Aid Detachment” TQMS Day has also been responsible for their technical stores as well, which has greatly increased his work. Throughout the Korean Campaign TQMS Day has not only worked himself quite unsparingly, but by his example of accurate accounting, he has been an inspiration to his subordinates. It has often been said that the speed of an armoured regiment is in relation to the speed at which the technical side can produce spares. Under TQMS Day’s supervision spares arrive up to the front so quickly on demand that tanks can be mended in situ and go on to play their part in the battle. This warrant officer through his devotion to duty, hard work, efficiency and honesty has been a major factor in every success that the 8th Hussars have had in this Campaign’.
