Henry Lee, who was advanced to Corporal in March 1911 and to Lance-Sergeant in August 1912, first went into action in the regiment’s celebrated charge at Shabkadar on 5 September 1915 (his MIC entry confirms). After the Great War he joined the Duke of Lancaster’s Own Yeomanry, attaining the rank of Squadron Quarter-Master Sergeant prior to his retirement in 1924, in which year he was also awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal.
