Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, no clasp (W. Cleland, W.D. Svt., H.M.S. Inconstant) edge bruising, slight pitting, very fine £80-100

William Cleland was born in Oxford on 20 August 1862. Entering the Royal Navy as a Domestic 3rd Class on 26 August 1880, he served on the Inconstant from that date until paid off on 16 November 1882. His copied service paper records that of that time he spent 14 days in the cells.
