Cyril Wood, a draper’s assistant from Grimsby, enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps in December 1917, aged 18 years. He subsequently served out in Egypt, where he was appointed a Flight Cadet at No. 2 Pilot School on 23 October 1918, and returned to the U.K. in March 1919. His service record also confirms that he was sent his British War & Victory Medals in March 1922.
