Patrick McArdle was born in the Parish of Keady, County Armagh, and enlisted into the 24th Foot on 2 April 1812, still only 13 years of age. He transferred to the 13th Foot in October 1822, and finally to the 44th Foot on 25 September 1823, at Fort William. He was discharged at Ghazepore on 5 July 1826, confirmed at Horse Guards on 19 June 1827, in consequence of ‘enlargement of the liver and spleen and frequent attacks of intermittent fever - worn out’. Sold with copy discharge papers.
