Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, Alexandria 11th July (J. Lamacraft, Stkr., H.M.S. Penelope) surname officially corrected, occasional edge bruising and light contact marks, otherwise very fine £130-150

James Lamacraft was born in Exeter, Devonshire in January 1852 and entered the Royal Navy as a Domestic 3rd Class in January 1873. Quickly re-rated as a Stoker 2nd Class, he had been advanced to Stoker by the time of his service in H.M.S. Penelope (June to November 1882), and was a Leading Stoker at the time of being discharged ashore in July 1892 - he had been awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal in March of the previous year. Lamacraft died in Plymouth in November 1912.
