G. Roth was commissioned into the Royal Artillery on 10 December 1944 and became a War Substantive Lieutenant on 10 June 1945. He transferred to the R.E.M.E. with a short service commission in 1947, becoming a Temporary Captain in December 1949 and Captain in December 1950. Roth served as Technical Adjutant of the 15th/19th Hussars in Malaya. He retired from the Army in 1958.
