Wilfred Cross enlisted on 28 January 1913. Serving with the Oxfordshire Yeomanry, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 20 September 1914. He was discharged on 11 September 1916. Members of an Oxford Yeomanry patrol are believed to have been the first Territorial Force soldiers to engage the Germans in 1914. With copied m.i.c.
