Serjeant H. E. Woods, Westminster Dragoons, was awarded the Imperial Yeomanry L.S. & G.C. Medal by Army Order of August 1908. He was one of only eight members of the unit to be awarded the Medal. Serving as Squadron Sergeant-Major with the Westminster Dragoons in the Egypt theatre of war, he was wounded by a shell explosion in about June 1917 but was able to return to duty a few weeks later (ref. 2nd County of London (Westminster Dragoons) Yeomanry, The First Twenty Years, by Major Edward Rowe, M.C.).
