Edward Charles Bayley was born on 13 December 1867. He was educated privately and at Sandhurst. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion Scottish Rifles in September 1887, transferring to the Indian Army in 1890. Promoted to Captain in September 1898, Major in September 1905 and Lieutenant-Colonel in September 1913. Was Private Secretary to the Lieutenant-Governor of North West Provinces and Oudh, 1899-1901 and was Private Secretary to the Lieutenant-Governor of Punjab, 1907-20. With the 15th Lancers he served with the Somaliland Field Force, 1903-04. He retired in October 1920. Awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind in 1910, C.I.E. in 1911 and O.B.E. in 1919. Lieutenant-Colonel Bayley died on 26 April 1924. With some copied service details.
