George Lawson Nazer was born in Ashford, Kent on 2 February 1871. A Fitter & Turner by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy as an Acting Engine Room Artificer 4th Class on 14 January 1895 and was confirmed in his rank in February 1900. Served on Pomone, July 1902-August 1904, seeing service on and off the coast of Somaliland and in December 1903 was advanced to E.R.A. 3rd Class. Promoted to E.R.A. 2nd Class in December 1907 on the newly completed Dreadnought. Served on Cyclops, April 1908-August 1913, being awarded the Royal Navy L.S. & G.C. and attaining the rank of E.R.A. in August 1910. Served throughout the Great War, mainly at Pembroke and on St. George. With copied service paper.
