Gordon Alexander Cumming was born in Dalhousie Township, Lanark County, Ontario, on 8 April 1889. A Lumberman by occupation, he enlisted into the 194th (City of Regina) Battalion at Peace River in February 1916. Having then transferred to the 15th Overseas Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, he arrived in England in September 1916 and was allocated to the 14th Brigade before entering France in August 1917. Serving with the 60th Battery, he was awarded the M.S.M., possibly for deeds during the German Spring Offensive in 1918, and the M.M. possibly for the advance through the Hindenburg Line towards Cambrai. He was discharged at Toronto in June 1919 and died in Vancouver in 1955; sold with copied service papers.
