Trinovantes, Dubnovellaunus, Unit, Rochester Pegasus type, bust right with hair swept back beneath corded diadem, sunburst and small saltire in front, rev. Pegasus right, dvb above, cross-hatched box and annulet below, 1.16g/3h (BMC –; VA –; S –). Obverse slightly off-centre, otherwise good very fine, extremely rare; six specimens known £600-800

Provenance: Found at Springhead (Kent); C. Rudd FPL 77, September 2004 (18). CCI 04.1181.

Several of the known specimens are off-centre, resulting in the assumption until recently that the coin was uninscribed. Only since 2004 have the letters on the reverse been correctly noted and the attribution to Dubnovellaunus made
