Timothy Peter Whelan (†1863), coin dealer, firstly in Holborn and at 46 Strand, later at 36 and then 44 Great Russell street, married Eliza Norris in 1847 and their son, Francis Edward, was born in May 1848: it is speculated that this event, perhaps allied to the birth of his daughter in December 1849, prompted the image on his token; William Webster (1821-85), nephew of William Till, whose business at 17 Great Russell street he inherited in 1844, remained active in numismatics until his death; William Warrington, medallist, seal and copperplate engraver, 27 Strand, 1842-51, subsequently Richard Silvester Warrington & Co, 1852-98
