Cecil Henry Alec Bermingham was born in 1870 and entered the Royal Navy in 1886. Serving aboard the battlecruiser H.M.S.
Tiger, he was present at the battles of Dogger Bank and Jutland. For his services at Jutland he was mentioned in despatches and awarded the Japanese Order of the Sacred Treasure, 3rd Class and Russian Order of St. Stanislaus, 2nd Class with swords. Attained the rank of Engineer Rear-Admiral in 1925.
