Private P. A. Cowan, 2nd South African Infantry, was killed in action at the battle of the Somme on 13 July 1916, aged 27 years. He was buried in the Dive Copse British Cemetery, Sailly-le-Sec, Somme and was the son of Mr J. and Mrs J. A. Cowan, of Percy Street, Harrismith, Orange Free State.
