Frank G. Preen enlisted in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps in May 1907 and transferred as a Lance-Corporal to the fledgling Royal Flying Corps (Military Wing) in June 1912. Embarked for France as an Air Mechanic 1st Class on the strength of No. 3 Squadron on 12 August 1914, he was advanced to Flight Sergeant in August 1916 and transferred to the newly established Royal Air Force as a Flight Clerk in April 1918. Having then seen service in India in 1920, and in Mesopotamia 1921-23, he returned to the Home Establishment and was awarded his L.S. & G.C. medal in May 1925. Preen, who was advanced to Warrant Officer 1st Class in August 1929, was still serving in the early 1930s; sold with copied research.
