M.M. London Gazette 13 March 1919.

With copied newspaper cutting, which reads: ‘... the Military Medal has been awarded to Lance-Corporal Arthur Johnson, Sherwood Foresters, son of Mrs Bennett of Matlock Road, Belper. Johnson is an old schoolboy of the Mosbro’ Endowed School and a former member of the Church Lads’ Brigade. .... Prior to enlistment Johnson was employed at Holbrook Colliery. It seems that Johnson succeeded in capturing three Hun machine-guns, got them in working order, and repulsed an enemy counter-attack by means of them. He also repaired the British Lewis guns and worked his own gun until it was almost red hot. His platoon officer was killed just after he had made out the recommendation for the medal.’

With copied m.i.c. Not entitled to the 1914-15 Star.
