Albert Edward Elliott was born in Gateshead, Co. Durham on 15 July 1897. A General Labourer by occupation, he joined the Royal Marines at York on 10 August 1914. Served with the R.M. Brigade from 13 September 1914, being present at Dunkirk, September 1914; and at the defence of Antwerp, October 1914. He was captured there on 13 October 1914 and was held as a prisoner-of-war until his repatriation in December 1918.

With copied service paper which shows entitlement to the clasp to the 1914 Star.
