Charles Francis Sheridan (1750-1806), writer and politician, older brother of the playwright Richard Sheridan; b Dublin; secretary to the British envoy in Sweden, 1772-5; entered Lincoln’s Inn 1775 and called to the Bar 1780; MP for Belturbet, co Cavan, 1776-83, and Rathcormack, co Cork, 1783-90; ‘vain and pretentious’, he died at Tunbridge Wells June 1806
