Anglo-Saxon Pennies from the Collection of Michael Trenerry

Michael Trenerry

Michael Trenerry, one of the best known names in numismatics in the West of England, originally studied for a degree in law at the University of London, financing his studies by buying and selling 18th and 19th century trade tokens, as well as English hammered coins. On graduating he qualified as a solicitor, while continuing to deal in pre-1660 English, Roman and Celtic coins and 17th century trade tokens.

Some years ago Michael decided to cease legal practice in order to concentrate on numismatics. He holds a post graduate diploma in European Studies as well as a Masters degree in Management from the University of Coventry.

Michael has almost 50 years’ experience as a coin dealer and, with his wife Elizabeth, is a director of Michael Trenerry Coins, primarily a mail order business issuing catalogues of Roman, Celtic, English hammered coins and 17th century tokens.
