Percy Harold Thompson was born in Camberwell, London, in 1880 and attested for the 13th Hussars in London on 27 September 1898. He served with the Regiment in South Africa during the Boer War from 10 August 1900 to 21 October 1902 (also entitled to a King’s South Africa Medal with both date clasps), and was discharged on 19 February 1903, after 4 years and 146 days’ service.
