Archibald Percival Lopez was born on 7 March 1876. He entered the Indian Subordinate Medical Department as an Assistant Surgeon 4th Class in February 1897 and saw active service in that capacity on the N.W. Frontier during 1897-98. Advanced to Assistant Surgeon 3rd Class in February 1902 he next saw active service in the Tibet expedition, 1903-04, serving at Niani, Gyantse and the march to Lhasa. Promoted to Assistant Surgeon 2nd Class in February 1909 and 1st Class in November 1914, he was actively employed during th Great War. He was advanced to Lieutenant in January 1921, Captain in April 1927, and Major, Senior Assistant Surgeon in 1930. Major Lopez retired from the service on 7 March 1931.
