Canadian Memorial Cross, G.VI.R. (B.36228 Pte. J. M. Thomson), with ribbon, in case of issue, extremely fine £60-80

James Mitchell Thomson was born in Bothwellhaugh, Lanarkshire, Scotland on 9 August 1899. During the Great War he served in the 10th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, 1916-19. Living in Toronto, he enlisted into the Veteran’s Guard of Canada on 25 July 1940. Private Thomson died of Carcinoma of the lung with metastases at Christies Street Hospital, Toronto on 25 April 1941 and was buried in the Prospect Cemetery, Toronto. In 1949, Thomson’s C.V.S.M. and War Medal were issued to his wife, Mrs Annie M. B. Thomson of Hiawatha Road, Toronto. Sold with over 100 copied service papers, medical reports, etc.
