Samue Stephens was born in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, and living in Ashford Co. Wicklow, enlisted at Limerick. Serving with the 10th Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 13 November 1916, aged 21 years. The son of Henry and Catherine E. Stephens of Ballymoneen, Ashford, Co. Wicklow, he was buried in the Ancre British Cemetery at Beaumont-Hamel, Somme, France.
