Sidney Grey Webster was born in Bedford on 25 November 1880. During the Boer War he served in the Remount Department. With the onset of the Second World War, Webster, a retired farmer, living in Potchefstroom, volunteered for service in the Union Defence Force, giving his date of birth as 25 November 1887. Serving in the S.A.A. from 23 August 1940, his engagement was terminated on 13 February 1943 ‘Having passed the age limit for active service’. He received an Honourable Discharge. Sold with copied (W.W.2) service papers.
