H. Parkin (listed as ‘Parker’ in the published roll) served as Lieutenant in the Griqualand West Light Infantry in the 1878 campaign in South Africa. During the Boer War he served as a Sergeant in the Imperial Light Horse. He died of disease (Pyaemia) at Matjespruit on 22 August 1901 and was interred at Klerksdorp.
