China 1857-60, 1 clasp, Pekin 1860 (John Peeling, 2nd Bn. 60th Rl. Rifles) edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise, nearly very fine £200-250

John Peeling was born in the Parish of Clanduff, Castle Witham, Co. Down, and attested for the 60th Regiment at Downpatrick on 21 December 1846, aged 17 years 10 months. He served abroad at the Cape of Good Hope for 6 years 7 months, in India for 1 year 11 months, and in China for 1 year 10 months, and took part in the Kaffir War of 1851, the Indian campaign of 1858 and China campaign of 1860, for which he received three medals. He also received the L.S. & G.C. medal in April 1868, and was discharged at Winchester on 7 July the same year. Sold with detailed research.
