China 1842 (James Lucks, Petty Offr. H.M.S. Wellesley) with 2 clasps, ‘China 1842’ and ‘Canton 1857’ on ribbon, small test cut to edge and light contact marks, otherwise very fine and scarce £1600-1800

James Lucks served as a Caulker aboard the Wellesley during the 1842 operations, and as a Carpenter R.N. aboard H.M.S. Esk at Canton in 1857. He is confirmed on the rolls as one of the 101 recipients of the 1st China War medal with ‘China 1842’ and/or 2nd China War clasps.
