Honourable East India Company Medal for Mysore 1790-92, small silver medal for Havildars, Naiks, Tindals, Sepoys and Lascars, 39mm., the obverse from the large variety die but cut down, the reverse from the usual small medal die, straight grained edge, fitted with a small ring for suspension, obverse tooled, slight edge bruising, very fine £400-500

Medal literature states that the medal was issued in two sizes, the large 43mm. medal in gold and in silver, and the small 38mm. medal in silver. Although the reason behind them is not clear, these ‘middle’ size medals with a diameter of 39mm are known from several examples and would appear to be contemporary. The ‘Patiala Collection’ is known to contain medals of the three sizes.
