The Most Honourable Order of The Bath, G.C.B. (Military) Knight Grand Cross, a rare jewelled Victorian breast star by Garrard, 95 x 92mm, silver with appliqué centre in gold and enamels, the centre, motto, wreath and ‘ich dien’ all set with diamonds, emeralds and rubies, the reverse central backplate inscribed R & S. Garrard & Co., Goldsmiths, Jewellers &c. to the Queen, His Royal Highnefs Prince Albert and all the Royal Family, Panton Street, London, stamped with maker’s mark ‘wn’ fitted with gold pin for wearing, the jewelled centre and reverse backplate circa 1860 but mounted onto a slightly later star circa 1870, chips to blue enamel and neat old repair to one point of star, otherwise good very fine £2500-3000

Attributed to Field Marshal Sir Hugh Rose, Baron Strathnairn, late Commander in Chief in India. For the D.S.O. group awarded to his son see lot 1050.
