The Royal Regiment of Artillery, a very fine and extremely rare officer’s copper gilt and silver shako plate 1829-33, the very large crowned 1829 pattern star back plate with mounts comprising the silver cannons in pale and gilt laurel sprays in near full surround, two loop fasteners, the diadem of the crown with two small holes and cracked above this area, the orb and cross of the crown replaced and reinforced with crude but probably period repairs, the laurel sprays fractured at the union, the gilt very good for the age £600-800
This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The Collection of Artillery Insignia formed by the late Norman Litchfield.
