Yates, M.A., Certificate appointing ‘Arthur George Yates, B.A., of Keble College, Oxford’, Deacon, at the Parish Church of Kenwyn, in the Diocese of Truro, Cornwall, bearing the signature and seal of George Howard, Bishop of Truro, dated 21 December 1884; Certificate appointing ‘Arthur George Yates, B.A., of Keble College, Oxford’ Priest, in the Parish Church of St. George in Truro, bearing the signature and seal as above, dated 20 December 1885; Commission appointing ‘The Reverend Arthur G. Yates, M.A.’, Chaplain in Her Majesty’s Fleet, dated 29 October 1888; Commission appointing ‘The Reverend Arthur G. Yates, M.A.’, Naval Instructor, dated 22 June 1889; Licence appointing Arthur George Yates a Naval Chaplain, bearing the signature and seal of Randall Thomas, Archbishop of Canterbury, dated 21 July 1903; together with a silk book-mark, all folded, some ‘spotting’ but in good condition (6) £20-30

Arthur George Yates studied for Holy Orders and gained the B.A. and M.A. at Keble College, Oxford. Ordained a Deacon in 1884 and Priest in 1885, he was Curate of Tuckingmill, Cornwall, 1884-6 and Carnmenellis, Cornwall, 1886-8. He was appointed a Naval Chaplain from 1888 and Naval Instructor from 1889, serving on the Comus. 1888-92, Narcissus, 1892-3, Rodney, 1893-7 and Victorious from 1897.
