An Iron Cross pair to Erhard Pförtner, 518th Infantry Regiment, killed in action, Russia, 23 December 1941

Erhard Pförtner was born on 12 December 1921 and entered the German Army on 16 June 1940. He served from November 1940 with the 518th Infantry Regiment in the 395th Infantry Division, based until April 1941 in Rouen, France and thence in Poland in preparation for the campaign against Russia. He was killed in action at Tschernogorowka, Russia on 23 December 1941. Sold with the recipient’s original Wehrpass with protective card cover, which confirms the award of the Iron Cross which was authorised on 28 November 1941.
