James Hardie was born in 1896. A motor mechanic by occupation he enlisted into the Army on 2 October 1914. He served in the infantry, October 1914-April 1917 and as a fitter, April 1917-May 1919, being transferred to the Army Reserve on 27 June 1919. Sold with original ‘Certificate of Employment during the War’ and ‘Certificate of Transfer to reserve on Demobilization’.
