Graham Henry Hendy was born on 12 March 1885 and enlisted in the Royal Irish Regiment in July 1903. He served in the ranks until March 1916 when he was promoted to Compamy Sergeant-Major. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant for services in the field on 20 February 1917 and posted to the East Lancashire Regiment. His further wartime services were recognised by being mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 1919). He gained the rank of Captain in 1928 and was placed on Retirement Pay in March 1930. Serving in the Border Regiment T.A. Reserve of Officers Class II, he attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 23 August 1939. During the Second World War he served with the Home Guard, retiring in 1945. Sold with copied research.
